TUTORIAL: Getting to grips with Apple's wonder gadget

You don't need us to tell you that the iPhone and its almost identical sibling the iPod Touch were 2007's must-have gadgets - and will probably continue to be so for quite some time, given the recent capacity upgrades. But how about gaming? There's a ton of features about the phone - the multi-touch screen, the accelerometer, even the camera - that are begging to be innovatively utilised for the purpose of fun.

To that end, we've posted up our recent tutorial on developing for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The official iPhone SDK is set to be released at some point this month, but enterprising hackers have already decoded much of the kit and packaged it up for people to use now - and its this unofficial SDK that we take a look at in our feature.

So, check out our whistle-stop guide to getting your first app running on the iPhone, and let us know what you think by commenting below or e-mailing ed.fear@intentmedia.co.uk

Excellent tutorial. Haven't had a chance to test it out properly but it's handy to have a set of links together to go to (though last night the funny link redirects didn't seem to be working).

More content like this would be great! I think the iPod Touch has such potential as a gaming device! It has touch screen and an accelerometer: it's basically a DS and Wii rolled into one! :-)
