Shanda grants over £500,000 for the development of new titles
Chinese online operator Shanda Interactive will grant up to eight million yuan (around £563,000) to its employees to set up their own businesses internally.
Shanda won’t take majority ownership of these companies, but will take over the intellectual rights of the games upon completion. The firm has already invested in ten such titles, a few of which will launch this year.
Speaking on why Shanda is taking this step, company president Tan Jun had previously said that the company relied too much on imported and self-developed games and was seeking to absorb more ideas from the industry.
