Peter Molyneux's studio opts for cross-platform development tool

Peter Molyneux's studio 22cans has opted to use cross-platform development tool Marmalade for its current project Godus.

The god game, arguably a spiritual successor to Molyneux's iconic game Populous, was funded via Kickstarter, where it raised over £500,000.

It is now in development using Marmalde's C++ coding environment, in preparation for a release later this year on iOS, Android and Windows and Mac via Steam.

“At 22cans our single focus is to reinvent the God game genre," said 22cans founder Molyneux. "We want to live in a world where gamers can play whatever games they’re into, regardless of the device they happen to have in their pocket or on their desk.

"Godus is going to be a game for everyone, and developing cross-platform using Marmalade is an important part of our vision.”

Previous game IPs that have embraced Marmalade include Draw Something, Plants vs. Zombies and Tap Paradise Cove.
