OPM’s client are looking for a VFX Artist to join their growing team. This company are a leading studio who create first class AAA games of which you have probably played at least one! This role would require you to construct visually stunning visual effects utilising particle systems and other techniques. You will also be able to need to have strong modelling and texturing skills to help support the VFX you create.
Create high quality visual effects for real-time game engines.
Test and proactively troubleshoot FX that are not working in the game and help fix them.
Have a thorough knowledge of optimization techniques for CPU and GPU limitations over multiple platforms
Define and refine new and existing FX tools to achieve world class VFX
Communicate FX development status and risks to stakeholders
The ability to quickly learn and comprehend in-house VFX tools as necessary for the position.
Experience with at least one major 3D package creating particles, dynamics and particle expressions (e.g. MAYA, XSI, 3D studio, Houdini).
Extensive experience in a similar role in a gaming environment
Experience with high-end VFX for film is a plus but you must understand the limitations of real-time engines.
Ability to conceptualize abstract concepts into impressive on-screen visuals
Knowledge of AfterEffects and/or other compositing software a plus
Knowledge and understanding of Fluid Simulators (Fire & Smoke) a plus
Shader writing is also big plus (e.g., HLSL.)
