A leading AAA development studio in the South East of the UK is currently looking for a Technical Designer to join their team on a 12 month contract basis. The studio is responsible for creating one of the best loved console franchises and are currently working on existing and brand new IP. As an experienced Technical Designer you will primarily work hand in hand with coders, animators and other members of the design team to initially implement and balance gameplay features for the next title. You will be an integral team contributor and be involved in the complete development process from start to finish. Key Responsibilities: • Implement scripted events and quest-based logic for gameplay and narrative • Implement abilities for combat gameplay • Implement villain abilities via Kismet for strategic gameplay • Work closely with engineers to improve the tools and features available • Deliver systems for designers to balance and tweak gameplay • Define scripting standards within Kismet • Work closely with animators, designers and engineers to develop a quality experience in a timely manner without sacrificing quality • Work with the design team to help concept future in-game abilities • Identify priorities and gaps in current designs and contribute creative solutions • Maintain familiarity with the game’s playability and suggest improvements If you have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a designer and a strong knowledge of scripting (Kismet, Lua, or similar) and would like the opportunity to work with one of the most successful creative teams get in touch! A keen interest in shooters, action or RPG/RTS games would be highly beneficial.
