OPM are working with a BAFTA winning studio preparing to embark on their most ambitious and exciting project yet. After the smash hit successes of their 2D titles their most recent project has already been lauded by the critics as the next big thing!
This studio run development remotely and this role requires you to undertake the vast majority of their work at home. Appropriate equipment, dev kits and software licenses will be supplied as required. There will be travel to London required on an Ad Hoc basis for team meetings / work days.
This is an opportunity to join the team as a Server-side Network Programmer, join their network team of three, and help them deliver a quality Multiplayer experience.
Your role would be developing RESTful services that the game client would use to communicate with other players. Developing Devops and Community Management features for continued support of the game, profile and tune the services, continue development on the matchmaking system, and work with the design team to implement new features.
The role requires a high level of versatility and hands on work – you will effectively collaborate with a wide range of team members, from their Lead Network Programmer, to their producer and Gameplay Designers.
Do you have:
Experience working with Platform Service Providers (eg Amazon EC2 / Google Compute etc)?
Cross Server Communications?
High Volume, Low Latency Client/Server Communications over HTTP and UDP?
Familiarity with client/server topology and the problems that come with it?
Ability to work under pressure?
Ability to work remotely on complex problems?
Ability to deep dive into large complex codebases and come up with reliable solutions to problems?
An understanding of multithreading and the problems that come with it?
Experience with Security and Anti-Cheat Measures?
