My client, one of the UK's most creative and stable game developers, is currently looking for a Senior World Designer to join their team. Having been developing games since the early 2000s they have assembled a talented team of over 230 staff and are looking to grow even more with opening another UK based studio. They have developed a series of successful titles across all gaming platforms for partners with more recent titles being launched on the Xbox One and PS4. 2017 is guaranteed to be their most eventful year!

The Senior World Designer will be focusing solely on crafting dynamic, believable and exciting play spaces, this is an opportunity for those who want to leave their mark on an already established, multi-million selling franchise.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with cross discipline teams to create exciting, engaging spaces
Understand the role of tone, ambience, narrative and gameplay mechanics in creating immersive open world experiences for discerning players
Realise the high level vision of the world through all stages of the development, from 2D to final shipped product
Plan, execute and refine varied world spaces to support gameplay, mission and artistic content
Use player feedback and design direction to hone the gameplay experience
Share past experience to mentor and develop less experienced members of the design team

Requirements:

Proven experience of delivering exceptionally well designed levels and game areas
Shipped at least 1 AAA console title as a World Designer or Level Designer ideally in UE3/4
Show an ability to weave narrative themes with gameplay mechanics to build interesting world spaces
Being the point of contact facilitating communication between code, art and design at a senior level
Be able to propose creative solutions to complex design problems
Experience of managing a small team of designers to achieve goals set by the Creative Lead
Be comfortable regularly interfacing with publishers and external parties
