Projects: MMO RPG Game
This notable European Games Developer is currently building a team in London to lead development on a new and highly ambitious MMO RPG. They are looking to add to their small, tight-knit team, capable of delivering big ideas through experience, smart process, and world-class tools.
As their Senior Character Artist you will be responsible for defining the benchmark standards and ensuring the characters meet those standards across the game. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a real flair and passion for the creation of unique and memorable characters.
Experience in AAA game development and at least 1 commercially released title in a senior role.
Strong understanding of the use of silhouette in the readability of characters.
Strong 3D sculpting and modelling abilities (demonstrated expert knowledge of organic and hardsurface modelling techniques) creating clean meshes with efficient topology ready for rigging.
Efficient layout of UV and optimal use of Textures against technical requirements.
Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard 3D and 2D software, Zbrush, 3DS Max or Maya, Substance Painter, Photoshop, etc.
Strong knowledge of industry standard pipelines and workflows, asset exporting process and implementation within the game.
Experience of working with Unreal Engine 4 desirable
A passion for AAA video games, ideally MMOs, MOBAs and RPGs.
Experience managing and mentoring other artists.
Keen understanding of current and new character creation techniques and technologies and a desire to push quality while maintaining technical performance.
Collaborate with the teams Art and Design Leads to help define the benchmark standards for the games characters and creatures.
Collaborate and define the Character production schedule.
Work with Tech Artists and Programming team to help define and implement workflows, pipelines and best practice.
Be hands on as a craft expert taking character from initial concepts to final game assets.
Ensure all Characters are delivered against agreed technical specifications, quality bars and all assets are present and functioning in the game engine as intended.
Ensure all assets and Characters meet the games art style.
Maintaining the benchmark quality throughout the production cycle and timely delivery of assets.
