My client is one of Europe's largest independent game developers working on great games. Including some of the top franchises in the world, for top publishers and on a range of formats covering Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, PS Vita, Facebook & iOS as well as online.
Due to their continued success they are now looking for a Lead Web Programmer to join their team.
Overview of the job:
You will report to the Web Development Manager, working with them to lead and support an existing team of developers in implementing and maintaining a variety of high-quality websites, web applications and other online projects.
Responsibilities of the role:
? You will be joining an existing web team as the Lead Developer to:
? Take a technical lead role within the team when planning and defining requirements
? Review other developers? code and performance, ensure adherence to agreed coding standards, and encourage other good working practices within the team
? Participate in fostering the development of a cross-functional team, where every member feels valued and that ?we are in this together?
? Design and implement PHP-driven websites and web applications
? Provide maintenance and improvements to existing PHP-driven websites and web applications, refactoring existing code, where required
? Create and maintain re-usable library code for reuse by the web team and across projects
? Develop effective testing strategies and encourage their usage by the rest of the team
? Assist the Web Development Manager with scheduling and estimating
? Research new tools, techniques and processes, and identify where and how they could benefit Rebellion
? Collaborate productively within larger multi-disciplined project team environments, communicating ideas and issues clearly
? Stand up for your team/project, manage expectations and share information on current or potentially upcoming problems and possible solutions/alternatives as soon as possible.
? Excellent PHP (OOP) and MySQL (and/or other RDBMS) skills
? Solid knowledge of web programming methodology (OOP, Agile, design patterns e.g. MVC)
? Experience of PHP frameworks (e.g. Symfony, Zend etc.)
? Automated Testing (e.g. Unit Testing with PHPUnit)
? Correct usage of version control systems (e.g. Git, Perforce, SVN)
? At least a basic level of knowledge of UNIX commands and System Administration skills
? Excellent initiative, self-motivation and problem-solving skills
? Great team working and communication skills, including fostering team-cohesion
