Are you a Games Programmer who wants to get into Games Design or a Game Designer with a programming background? A South East based Console games developer, are looking for a Games Designer with a programming background, to work on their high-selling franchise and other titles currently being developed. This game designer will primarily work hand in hand with coders, animators and other members of the design team to implement and balance gameplay features for their next title. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the current designers in creating innovative and challenging features to keep their users engaged. You will be working on new and existing projects and will have the opportunity to take control and be able to influence key decisions. The role will also enable you to manage sections of the game and make sure they are balanced, to give the player a rewarding gaming experience. You will be a games enthusiast and be able to think not only as a Game Designer, but as the player as well. Responsibilities • Create, review and feedback on game design documents • Work alongside mission scripters and write engaging game content • Be able to understand object movement and differences in sizes and speed • Work closely with engineers to improve the tools and features available • Deliver systems for Designers to balance and tweak Gameplay • Assist with bug fixing when needed • Implement player / character development systems Requirements • 1st class or 2.1 Degree (or predicted) in Computer Science / Maths / Physics / Programming or games related field • Studied either of the following: Maths / Physics / IT at A-level • Experience of, or a desire to learn LUA • Excellent communication skills • ‘Can do’ attitude to problems • Portfolio displaying source code or games • Additional programming / scripting skills in C++, C#, Kismet would be a bonus This is a fantastic opportunity to join a long standing studio who have a great portfolio of products and are currently using new innovative technologies.
