The Server Engineer must be a willing to work as part of a multi discipline and small team and you must be comfortable working all of the areas outlined below.
Building and maintaining the LBP server set.
Working with programmers and designers to design, implement and deliver new game and web features into production.
Taking part in 24x7 on-call rotation
Performing daily support tasks such as but not limited to management of servers, deployments, graphs, bug fixes.
Infrastructure project work – such as improvements to build systems, deployment systems
Tightly cooperating and collaborating with development, product, community and customer care.
Experience of Ruby.
Ruby 1.9.3, RSpec, Rack, Thin, Bundler, rbenv, etc.
Linux (we use Ubuntu; other Unices acceptable).
A passion for delivering high-volume concurrent
A solid understanding of web application architecture
Familiarity with Git and Subversion
Amazon Web Services (or similar, e.g. RackSpace, OpenStack, or at least experience with virtualisation) helpful.
Systems exposure –Ideally( Nagios, collectd, rrdtool)
Experience in a configuration management environment
Nice to Have’s
Large-scale web systems (HAProxy, Varnish and Nginx)
Key-value stores such as Redis or Cassandra, preferably with experience in production.
The use of web APIs
Logging/ Deployment tools & Content delivery networks.
Exposure to (Chef/Puppet)
