OPM’s client, a game development studio based in Germany, are currently looking for an exceptionally talented Gameplay designer to join their growing team.
As a Gameplay Designer, you’ll be responsible for proposing innovative and fun design and fulfilling the game direction. You’ll communicate your visions to the artists, programmers, producers, marketing team and others involved in the development process to ensure compelling results each and every time.
Plan and define all the elements of a game: its setting; structure; rules; story flow; characters; the objects, props, vehicles, and devices available to the characters; interface design; and modes of play
Tune and maintain game systems that involve physical impact reactions against characters using physics and AI driven behaviours
Designing, prototyping, scripting, iterating on and polishing game systems and features using a proprietary game engine and scripting tools
Tune weapon feel through controller input and camera movement and proactively chase down tasks needed for improvement
Adjust the original specification for the game to respond to technical constraints which have been identified and to incorporate new programming and art creation methods developed by the team
Train QA Testers to play the game, making sure that they understand what is expected of the finished product
Worked in a relevant game design role on a shipped title
Deep understanding of the capabilities and benefits of different gaming platforms
Ability to present your ideas and accept any constructive feedback on your work
Good basic visual design and drawing skills
Be reasonably fluent in a range of 3D graphics and animation software, such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, etc.
Strong programming skills and deep experience with scripting in Blueprints in Unreal Engine 4
Possess a thorough understanding of game play theory
Storytelling and narrative development skills are a great advantage
Be skilled in information design and user interface design
