Our Total War: Arena team are looking for an experienced engine programmer to join the team working on leading interactive technology.
Working with our technical creative teams, this is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a successful Total War title. As an engine programmer on the team, you will be able to make push and drive the capabilities of game development for both the developers and the players.
You will be an experienced developer and show interest in all aspects of the game. The ideal candidate for the role will be able to work well in teams to enable the unity of feature sets across all Total War games.
As the Engine Programmer for the project you will need to be able to identify performance problems and recommend or implement improvements in any area of the game, not only the 3d engine parts. As well as identifying and communicating areas for improvement, you will be working with the team to create and follow a roadmap for future game development.
Being a part of the team, you will need to approachable and aware of dependencies across the project, being proactive with your approach. You will also occasionally assist in other programming areas of the project
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
- Excellent knowledge of C++
- Previously held a similar role on a recent completed game
- Intimate understanding of graphics shaders programming
- Familiarity with CPU and GPU benchmarking tools
- Proven track record of optimisation
- Excellent communication – both written and verbal
- Multi-threaded / multi core techniques
- Cutting edge lighting and shading algorithms
- RTS game enthusiast or thorough appreciation of the Total War franchise
