My client is an action/adventure powerhouse. One of the world's largest and best-funded independent game developers, they aim to attract the top industry talent by combining experienced management with a record of innovative, award-winning releases for original and licensed content.

 

They are continually growing and adding new games into production. They currently require an Online Test Manager. The key activities are Issue Management, Planning, Organizing, Directing, Monitoring and Coaching. Developing strong communication with project managers, project lead and external QA counterparts is required.

As an Online Test Manager you will be managing the Online QA Eco-system for my clients IPs and managing the QA life-cycle support of the Online Systems for all titles.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluation and improvement of QA/Dev team relationship
  • Drive processes that continue to increase effectiveness and communication between QA and other departments
  • Risk Management for Game Team and for QA
  • QA owner of franchise vision, QA skill evaluation and assist with career development within team
  • Responsible for coordinating with studio leads on budget approvals
  • Owner of product quality sign-off
  • Define what project milestones and associated QA deliverables are for the product
  • Reviews and approves QA deliverables related to milestones and key dates
  • Unification and standardization of training processes and materials for staff at Montreal and future hires
  • Advocates and proposes process improvements
  • Defines high level game quality related initiatives and coordinates with project Lead to ensure implementation of it
  • Makes adjustments and escalates potential resourcing conflicts or shortages
  • Drives mentorship and career development with RFT staff
  • Primary QA point of contact for external studio communication with QA

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Established experience in a Leadership Role within game development
  • Established experience as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst
  • Must have worked on AAA titles in QA
  • Strong Experience in supporting and/or managing a major online service
  • Strong Communicator(oral and written)
  • Strong Understanding of Software Quality Assurance Practices
  • Strong Understanding of the Software Development Process
  • Focused on continuous improvement
  • Strong People Management Skills
  • Strong Project Management Skills
  • Good understanding of testing online systems
  • Can drive communication, accountability, transparency, and predictability

 

Additional Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

  • Prior experience creating operational plans, managing budgets
  • Ability to manage testing activities
  • Ability to influence internally and externally
  • Comprehensive understanding of the software development process, QA best practices/methodologies
  • Skilled at process design, implementation and integration
  • Good understanding and experience working in an agile game development environment
  • Strong Time and Task Management (Complex, Fuzzy)
  • Strong Problem Identification and Solving Ability
  • A QA Manager that is able to work in a Development Director capacity
  • Be a leader in innovative processes, a desire to learn and a strong Vision/Passion for QA
  • Have gone through a full game development cycle from pre-production to finish
  • Manage hiring and firing
  • Strong leadership personality
  • Focus on what they can do for the team rather than what the team has done
  • Career direction and strong team health focus

 

Advantageous

  • Technical Diploma/Certificate or University Degree in a related field
  • Avid gamer who regularly engages and in both single player and multiplayer gameplay
  • Knowledge of Origin
  • Previous Game Development Experience
